The Reform Temple of Forest Hills

End of Life

In times of loss, we turn toward our community and traditions to guide us. Our clergy and congregation are here to support you and your family before and after the loss of your loved one.

We understand this can be a challenging time. Please reach out. If you’d like the Rabbi to officiate at a funeral or memorial, please check with us to confirm availability before making any arrangements. Please contact the Temple and let us know about your family’s situation at (718)261-2900.

RTFH has many resources to help during this time, including:

  • Clergy officiating at funerals and memorials
  • Acquiring a cemetery plot in the RTFH cemetery sections at New Montefiore Cemetery and Beth Moses Cemetery on Long Island
  • Informing the congregational community about your loss
  • Helping arrange shiva and leading shiva minyans
  • Sharing names of loved ones before the Mourner’s Kaddish at Shabbat services
  • Recording your loved one’s yahrzeit for remembrance each year
  • Helping with the Hebrew and wording on gravestones
  • Sharing tools to lead unveiling services on the 1st anniversary of the passing
  • Remembrances at Yizkor on Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover, and Shavuot

The Reform movement has a comprehensive guide to help with preparations for a Jewish funeral.

Please contact the Temple at (718) 261-2900 for support and guidance.

May the memories of our loved ones be for a blessing.
