summer mitzvah day 2026

Let’s bring Jewish values to life through meaningful mitzvot that spread sunshine and inspire connection.

The Social Action Team and Women’s Connection invite you to join in performing these mitzvot:

  • Care Packages—Assemble hygiene supplies for financially insecure college students (LaGuardia CARES)
  • Crafting for Comfort—Stuff bears and hearts for patients. Crochet or knit baby hats, scarves, and 8×8 squares. (Local hospitals)
  • Coloring for Cheer—Create Jewish New Year cards for residents of local assisted living facilities
  • Get Out the Vote—Write postcards in support of three Virginia ballot initiatives supporting reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ equality, and voting rights. (RAC/WRJ Postcard Campaign)
  • Letter Writing for Support—Make cards to send to our troops domestically and around the world (Eagles Up!)
  • Corona SDA Church Food Bank—Make sandwiches and pack nutritious lunches
  • The Red Tent Fund—Donate tzedakah to support this national abortion access fund, rooted in Jewish values (project to come)
  • Kadima Beyachad—Donate tzedakah to this organization, co-founded by Temple member Roseann Bogard, LMSW,  which supports individuals and communities in Israel and around the world impacted by war (project to come)

All ages welcome! Please register so that we can be sure to have enough homemade lunch and dessert for everyone.

To further support our Summer Mitzvah Day programs, please donate. Your contributions, large or small, are greatly appreciated.

We are excited to share this heartwarming day together.
