On Kol Nidre, I spoke about the importance of being part of the RTFH kehilah—our community. I shared what this Jewish community has meant to me and my family over the 15 years we have been members and how it has supported and shaped us all along the way.
My message was simple: Community matters.
Our synagogue is our sanctuary. Our strong, welcoming and inclusive community requires all of us to participate, to take care of one another, and to do our part to nurture what we value today while preparing for the future.
Our membership contributions provide the foundation for the Temple’s annual operations, supporting our clergy and staff, our building, security, programming and more. But membership contributions alone cannot provide everything we need to strengthen our congregation and plan responsibly for the years ahead. For that, we depend on the Kol Nidre Appeal.
Last year’s Appeal helped make our Temple more inclusive by adding an additional stairlift, our services more meaningful by allowing us to repair and enhance our ark, and our community more secure through the installation of new security measures.
This year, with your support, we hope to build on that progress. We plan to further enhance the security of our building. We also intend to install a more permanent ramp to provide better access to the bimah for everyone and take additional steps to make our lobby and gathering areas more welcoming. These are important investments in the strength and future of our kehilah.
