Bet HaMidrash
(Educational Activities)
Lifelong Jewish learning is a journey. The Reform
Temple of Forest Hills is committed to providing a variety of
educational programs to all members. The range from Religious
School and family education through adult classes provides a myriad
of choices. |
|
The
Religious School - The Religious School provides an education for our children which connects them to their heritage, encouraging them through their Jewish identity, to be members of the Jewish community and to seek further study of Judaism as a way of life. The religious school from pre-kindergarten through high school graduation is committed to family education and helping our students understand and connect to Reform Judaism.
Parent’s Association - The P.A. helps parents actively
support educational activities so that we may raise our children with
a moral center based on liberal Jewish beliefs.
Junior and Senior Youth Groups - Youth
groups provide opportunities forleadership, friendship and social action.
Adult supervision is provided by our Youth Advisor.
Adult Education - Life-Long Learning A
variety of classes, seminars, breakfasts, formal and informal meetings
on themes and dialogues are offered throughout the year. We explore spiritual
themes while learning and exploring Shabbat and the holidays. Programs
enhance the cycle of holidays as well as explore our rich heritage and
texts. These are complemented by the Sunday Morning Breakfast Series of
lectures and forums with guest speakers.
Rosh Chodesh - The holiday of Rosh Chodesh
dates back to biblical times. Its celebration and significance is related
to the new moon and the cyclical nature of the seasons. Since the 1970s,
women have associated with Rosh Chodesh in order to celebrate, study and
learn about women's roles and voices within Judaism as well as serving
to enhance knowledge and spirituality.
The Rosh Chodesh Group at The Reform Temple of Forest Hills
was formed in 1998 and has grown into a community of women who meet regularly
to participate in a member created service, a study session led by a member
or guest speaker, and a sharing session which allows us to express our
viewpoints and share in common. |
